Thinking About Starting A Home Business?

A home business has many advantages over a regular j.o.b.  One being able to work when and where one wants.  Contributing financially to the family and working on one’s own terms makes a home business attractive.  Many people start with something on the side and grow that to a full-time business.  

There are many opportunities, here are three:

Blogging

Lots of people start blogging.  Writing about something you know or a simple diary is a great starting point.  An online journal can contain useful or entertaining posts.  It provides a personal touch that most readers can relate to and enjoy. Also a personal voice is often the key to selling online.

Choosing a niche or category for your blog is important.  Not only is it a good idea to like what you write about, but you should consider the audience.  If you write about underwater basketweaving, how big is that audience?  Some of the more popular niche’s are health, wealth, relationships and pets.

Bloggers can make money with Google Adsense, affiliate products, their own products, advertisements and more.  

There are many ways to make money with blogs. 

All you need to get started with a blog is a domain and a hosting account and the will to write good content.

Online Store

I first started making money by selling on Ebay.  I made a bunch of money that helped my family this way.  Over the years it has become even easier to create and maintain an online store with other services like Shopify and Etsy.  

People can sell things they make themselves.  For physical items they can purchase items, store and resell for a profit or they can dropship. One can sell digital products, t-shirts and more.  

People even sell food items, homemade pet treats and more.  If it’s legal and you can think it, you can sell it online.

Affiliate Marketing

I must say my favorite way of making money is with affiliate marketing.  Learn a little more about Affiliate Marketing on this post. 

If I like something it’s easy to tell others about it.  When this happens and people purchase you make a commission.  It’s pretty simple.  No need to carry or store products, no customer service to worry about.

Each company runs their affiliate program as they see fit.  Some pay for the first sale, others pay for upsells, recurring sales.  Some pay just for a click, even if someone doesn’t purchase anything.  

Some of the most popular affiliate programs are those of Clickbank, Commission Junction, JVZoo and Amazon.

The truth is now is a perfect time to start a home business.  Many people have lost their job so they are striking out on their own.  

If you decide you want to start a home business any one of these three options makes for a good way to earn a living from home. The amount of money you make depends on you and your commitment to build your business over time.
