Can you make money blogging? 

What a great question.  There’s lots of people that blog for years and years and make no money and some people start blogging, writing about what they love and they do make money.  So why the difference?

Every day, people jump into the blogging world and start a blog for a variety of reasons.  Some people start a blog as a hobby and others choose to blog to make money.   Whatever the reason, you can benefit from blogging either personally or professionally.  Here are some of the biggest reasons why you may want to start blogging.

• • Have fun:  People start a blog for different reasons.  Starting a blog to make money blogging often isn’t the first reason.  When deciding to start a blog you should have FUN as a good reason.  If you’re not having fun you may as well not even do it.  Connect with new people and write about something you enjoy and have fun!
  • Make money blogging:  Not all websites make money, but you can generate an income from a blog.  Lots of people make a full-time income from blogging.  There’s many different ways to monetize a blog.    If you’re working a job a blog is a great way to create a side income.  Income made from a blog can be even be passive.  Once your blog is set up it’s an asset on the Internet.  The articles and posts are out on the web for years and people may find the information at any time and act on what was originally presented. 
  • Inspire an audience:   As a blogger inspiring people through your writing is a very satisfying feeling.  Imagine being able to use your words to change someone’s life for the better or puts a smile on their face.  
  • Tell your story:  Blogging is a good way to document your life.  Who better than you can your story?  You can choose what you want to include.  You know you better than anyone and can portray your story in an interesting and fun way.  
  • Build an awesome community:  Blogging enables you to reach an audience of millions even billions of people that use the Internet.  Being able to connect with others and learn from each other is a great benefit of blogging.  New friends, new romances and even business partners connections can be made.

How to make money blogging

Where does the money come from?  There’s lots of ways to bring in money from blogging.   Let’s look at some of the fastest and easiest ways to make money online with a blog.

• • Affiliate marketing:  Affiliate marketing is an excellent way to make money blogging and one of our favorites.  Affiliate marketing is simply by recommending something you like or use.  Companies will pay you a commission for referring others to their products or services.  If someone clicks on a link in your article and they purchase an item, bam you make a percentage of the sale.  Affiliate marketing could be either physical products or digital information products.  Commissions can be 10,  20 even 75%, you can earn a few dollars per sale, or as much as $500 or more.  Digital products tend to have much higher profit margins than physical products. 
  • Sell advertising:  Companies will pay to have their banner displayed somewhere on your blog.  You can either charge a monthly fee or for every so many views on that advertisement will earn a certain amount of money.  In general, the more page views you receive, the more income you will make.  
  • Google adsense:  Adsense is one of the most popular monetization methods and is used by many bloggers.  It’s an advertising network within Google where they allow website owners to place advertisements on the websites.  Google will display ads on your website and then you’ll be paid a small amount per click and per impression. 
  • Amazon associates:  Amazon has an affiliate program where you can make money for referring products to your readers.  It’s very popular but not as profitable as other programs.  Depending on your traffic though it can be a good source of income for your blog for either physical products or digital books. 
  • Ebooks & information products:  Ebooks and info products are very profitable as there are no stocking fees of physical products.  We live in an information age and people crave info.  A well written ebook can be sold from your blog and some people are making tens of thousands of dollars every month.  
  • Estore:   Sell physical products like t-shirts, mugs, crafts or more online.  Make sure your online store looks professional and you provide good customer service.
  • Coaching services:  A great way to make a good income is to offer your services for your knowledge.  You can simply provide details on your one-on-one coaching to others.  Others will pay handsomely for what you already know.

Whatever you choose, if you are just starting a blog online or you’ve got lots of experience, making money with a blog is a very real possibility.  And if you do it the right way, you can profit for the long term.
