Leads are the lifeblood of your business.  Without leads or customers there’s no sales.  There’s lots of ways to generate leads both free and paid.  

Even if you have the best product in the world if no one knows about it, nothing happens. 

The first piece of advice is to make sure your website has the capacity to capture leads.  Most people don’t volunteer their email just because. 

They’ll happily share their email address with you in exchange for something of value.  Make sure you have something of value for their email.  Once you’re set up then you can start generating leads online.

Let’s review some smart ways to generate leads online:  

    • Update Blog content:  Give your readers a reason to come back for more.  Stale, old outdated articles don’t get read. New and interesting articles keep your blog fresh and readers coming back for more. 
    • Add a quiz to your blog:  People like quizzes.  They like to give their opinion and see what the results are.  Quizzes can entice readers to share their feedback about your blog or article so you can make it even more engaging. 
    • Videos:  Youtube is one of the largest search engines. You can create and maintain your own channel for people actively searching videos to learn everything you have to share.
    • Audio:  Podcasts are widely popular.  People listen to them in the car, jogging or whenever the mood hits.  Podcasts are a great way to build a name for yourself and build a brand.  With regular episodes your listener base will grow and grow.
    • PDF ebooks & guides:  Ebooks and guides can be a large business card, providing great content, contact information and calls to action.  
    • Forums, in online communities like Quora is a place where your target audience hangs out searching for answers.  If you dedicate some time each day providing thoughtful answers to questions you will undoubtedly gain some leads.
    • Guest Blog:  Guest blogging can be useful to generate Generate Leadsleads when you have a good signature directing people back to your site.  Be sure to do your research and choose to guest blog on reputable sites.
    • Engage on Social media groups – like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Finding already established groups and interacting with quality, thoughtful conversation will go far. You can even start and manage your own group.
    • Linkedin:  Linkedin is a social site but primarily business related.  It has a messenger aspect, groups and ability to post articles.  It’s a great site to gather quality, targeted leads. 
    • Host webinars:  Hosting your own webinar is great, but partnering and hosting a joint seminar is beneficial to acquire new leads since the audience base is usually twice as big if you did it alone.  
    • Interview influencers: Along the same lines of joint webinars, interviewing influencers allows you to increase your audience.  Influencers tend to have large audiences that respect and follow them.  Interviewing influencers can increase your own credibility.
    • Your signature: Don’t forget to include your signature in all you do, especially your emails.  Your website and contact information should direct your readers back to you.
